To ensure an engaging and mutually beneficial environment for the people who make our business possible, we commit to the following:

 

Safety

 

Provide a safe working environment through education, strict audits and the development and use of innovative equipment. 

 

Safety training is provided not only as prescribed by law; but enhanced to give our employees the tools to live safely both at work and at home.  Regulated safety training is monitored by a pre-determined schedule each year; and designed in a simple yet effective manner that will have a lasting effect throughout the year.  Lessons are accentuated in monthly work group meetings; a smaller forum that facilitates group discussion and employee involvement. 

 

Supervisor/employee teams conduct monthly safety audits using specific hazard analysis forms that require hazard correction follow-up and accountability.  Our medical and risk-control partners regularly conduct on-site visits and hazard analysis.  Vista has made major capital investments in process improvement equipment such as lifting devices, material handling equipment and machine guarding.

 

Vista’s commitment to safety has shown in the results.  There were no lost time injuries in 2009; and the year’s recordable incident rate was .86.   Vista implemented a Behavior Based Safety Program that eventually resulted in four years without a lost time injury by 2006.  Department of Workforce Development officials, Roberta Gassman and Frances Huntley-Cooper, celebrated at Vista on September 14, 2006 presenting an award from Governor Doyle for Company achievements.  Governor Doyle named August 26, 2006 “Vista Day” in Wisconsin. Vista also received the American Meat Institute Award of Honor for Safety in 2005 and 2007 for outstanding incident rates and safety programs.  Vista was named as a finalist in the 2006 and 2009 Wisconsin Safety Council Corporate Safety Awards program.  Vista’s incident rates have historically and consistently exceeded industry standards.

 

 

Diversity

 

Promote diversity among employees and suppliers. 

 

Vista is committed to providing employment and promotional opportunities at all levels to qualified individuals regardless of race, creed, national origin, gender or sexual orientation.  We have reached out to the increasing local Hispanic population, and overcome language barriers through bi-lingual interpreters and crucial information in both English and Spanish.  Safety training is also provided in Spanish.  Vista Company policies provide confidential complaint procedures for employees who feel their differences are not being respected by Vista or its employees.

 

Vista is also in a unique position regarding its strategic business partners and suppliers.  By virtue of its organizational structure, Vista sources solutions from around the world.  Our tag line says it all – “Global Resources. Custom Solutions.”

 

Training and Benefits

 

Invest in training and professional development programs for employees.

 

 Vista has committed resources to the development of all employees.  Educational reimbursement is available to all employees for formal continuing education or individual seminars.  Internal employee cross-training is an ongoing Company initiative that has not only provided employee development opportunities, but assists in building a lean organization, and maximizing Company resources.

 

Wellness

 

Promote employee participation in wellness initiatives.

 

Vista has committed to providing education and resources designed to provide our employees the tools to live a healthy life.  We realize lasting results only come from an internal desire to change, that we try to fuel by continuing to keep the initiative fresh with new ideas and projects.  The Company provides professional wellness coaching, health screenings, annual flu shots and educational sessions.  A generous monthly health club reimbursement program makes fitness affordable.  Weight loss and exercise competitions, along with wellness training have added fun to our campaign to create a healthy and energetic workforce.   

 

 

Code of Ethics

 

Provide equal opportunity and zero tolerance for harassment, discrimination or other practices that contradict our code of ethical business conduct. 

 

Vista provides clear communication through published policies that disrespectful treatment of any employee is not tolerated.  Formal complaint procedures, including   provide a clear message that employees who violate Company ethical standards will be held strictly accountable. Vista management employees annually review, and agree by signature, to follow the laws regarding Anti-Trust, and Vista’s written Code of Ethics.
